There’s A Housing Boom Happening In Myrtle Beach

Image Credit: Del Webb Myrtle Beach

Do you feel like you’ve been hearing a lot more hammering and power tools lately?

Well, it’s because Myrtle Beach has ranked as the second-fastest growing metropolitan area in the country. And no one expects that to change anytime soon. The housing market is at an all-time high right now, which means the booms and bangs are going to continue.

Realtors are saying they are selling more in the past few weeks than they have in the past few months. And most buyers are willing to wait on those new houses to be built. The locals believe that when people come to visit the area, they fall in love with the calm way of life. But also the boom in housing could be due to the cost of living and the demographic that includes retirees and migrants from parts of the country looking for warmer weather.

Most of the construction is around the Market Common area and the Grand Dunes, with Del Webb, which is in the process of building 524 single family homes. With the growth in numbers, comes the growth in others thing, such as traffic. But that also brings many new large businesses to the area, which brings more jobs.

Finding Shark Teeth In Myrtle Beach Is Easier Than You Think!

Featured Image Credit: World Travel Family

The best part about the beach? The sun, the sand, the crashing waves, and finding some amazing seashells. What’s even more exciting is when you can find a shark tooth or two. Local shark tooth hunting expert, Blakely Roof, tells Nora Battle of Visit Myrtle Beach a few key things about finding sharks teeth.

Many people just pick up something and because its black, they assume it is a shark tooth. Well, how do you know if it actually is? The best way to know if it is one is if there are ridges in the top from the gums and if it hard to break.

Where are the best places to find them in Myrtle Beach?

Blakely tells Nora she personally finds sharks teeth in central Myrtle Beach between 50th Avenue North and 10th Avenue South. But hunting sharks teeth isn’t just luck most of the time. It takes patience.

Get Back To School Ready With These Essential Tips

Featured Image Credit: Unsplash

Believe it or not, the back to school grind is right around the corner. Are you ready for it? Here are some helpful tips to get in the know before school starts back up on August 22:

1. Get in the know of your child’s school supplies:

Not sure on what exactly your child need this upcoming year? The bookbag, notebooks, pencils, pens, etc. can all be so overwhelming. Take a look at your kids back to school list!

2.  Attendance is key:

We aren’t just talking about attending school! Attending your child’s school’s open houses’ and meet & greets is vital as well. The teachers are excited to meet their students and give them the expectations of their classroom.

3. Get your routine ready:

Getting up in the mornings can be hard, but get yourself prepared. Start getting the kids up early a few days before classes begin & check out the routes to get to schools so you don’t have to be stuck in traffic. Not driving the kids to school? Check out where the bus stops are around you.

4. Check out the calendar and bell schedules:

View the important dates of the school year! And don’t forget to look at what time school starts and ends!

5. Be dress code ready:

With summer almost over, you kids are probably used to wearing tank tops and shorts on a daily basis. But when it comes to going to school, that isn’t always allowed. Double check that your kids have enough clothes to wear that are dress code approved!

6. Lunchtime:

Horry County schools feed over 25,000 kids a day. Be sure you are in the know of all things food at your kid’s school, whether it’s knowing the school menu, lunch programs, or even knowing if your child wants you to pack lunch.

7. Stay connected:

Follow Horry County on all social media outlets. Stay in the know of when early outs occur, when there is no school, or when a special event takes place!
