October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you can support the cause in your local community and support those that have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer. This weekend, you can show your support by attending an event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
Making Strides of Myrtle Beach supports the American Cancer Society in funding innovative breast cancer research and giving a hand to hold to those who have been affected by breast cancer. On Saturday, October 19, this years 4th Annual Making Strides will consist of a 5K beach walk and family fun day.
Registration for the beach walk will begin at 8 am at Crown Reef Resort, followed by the start of the event at 9 am. Afterward, the family fun day will include treats for sale as a fundraiser from top executive chefs, a DJ and dancing, mermaid photo opportunities for kids with Myrtle Beach Mermaids, and carnations being handed out to cancer survivors from the Medieval Times knights.
With a goal of $50,000, every dollar counts in supporting this cause. Those who donate over $15 will receive a free shirt that will also be given to cancer survivors. Registration is available on the day of or prior to the race online. For those not from the Myrtle Beach area, certain hotels will be donating $5 for every reservation. Come out and show your support at Making Strides of Myrtle Beach!
